What is Optic?

Optic is a chat style search tool you add to your Framer site. Visitors press Cmd+K or tap an Ask Optic button, ask a question in their own words, and get an answer pulled straight from your site's content.

How does Optic work on my Framer site?

You install Optic from the plugin available on the Framer Marketplace, sign in, and connect your own AI key. Optic then scans your pages and CMS collections and turns that into a knowledge base it answers from.

Do I need to write any code to set it up?

No. The whole setup happens inside the plugin. Once it's installed and configured, Optic runs across your entire site automatically.

How does Optic learn about my site's content?

When you set up or rescan, Optic reads through your pages and CMS collections and builds a knowledge base from what it finds. That's what it answers questions from.

Which AI providers can I use?

You can connect Groq, OpenAI, or Anthropic. You pick whichever one you'd rather use when you set up your key.

Is my AI key safe?

Yes. Your key is encrypted before it's stored, and it's only decrypted on our server for the moment it's actually needed to answer a question. It's never sent to the browser or shown to your visitors.
